Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 10th September 2023

(September 10, 2023)

This was a very busy period for our bowlers with 4 matches following on from  the Monday Club Drive.

First up was an away match at Steyning where Marcia Wilshaw, Fred Knight and skip Graham Ray posted our only victory 19 -11. We lost on the other rinks with an overall score of 86 - 73.

Home advantage was not in evidence in losing 3 - 1 against Billingshurst with an overall score of 61 - 76. Linda Gayle, Albert Leatham, and skip Graham Poole spared the blushes with a 23-13 win.

Pulborough then gave us a warm welcome on the hottest day of the year. They won on all 3 rinks with the final score being 56 - 30.

The 2nd leg of the Horsham Centenary Bowl played at Horsham, was won by the home team with a shot difference of 22 which added to the +7 difference from the first leg and made them worthy winners in what has always been a much-enjoyed competition.

This busy period finished with one of our favourite fixtures against Rottingdean on their home turf. They fielded a strong team and went on to win 3 of the 5 rinks, halving 1 and losing 1. Congratulations to our top rink of Clive Wootton, Paula Seymour, and skip Duncan Gayler.

Alan Paterson, Press Officer.
