Marine Gardens Bowling Club – report w/ending Sunday, 17th September 2023.

Although we lost our friendly match at Southwater by 3 – 1 rinks, the overall score of
58 - 54 indicates that this was a close call. Top Rink honours (10 -15) went to Perry Cairns, Paula Seymour, and skip Graham Poole.

The other friendly in this period at East Preston saw the away team grab victory 2 – 3 rinks
and an overall score (75 - 86). With special plaudits going to Tilly Hennings, Pamela Chambers and skip Ivan Godsmark for recording an impressive 20 - 9 win.

Our penultimate Brodie Tray match at home against Worthing had each side sharing the rink points but Worthing took the match points scoring 69 to our 62 shots. Albert Leatham and skip Ivan Godsmark put in a strong finish winning the last 4 ends to gain an 18 - 14 victory.

The final Brodie Tray match at home against Maltravers again saw the rink points shared with the match points going to Maltravers with the better overall score of 65 - 72.
Marine Gardens ladies provided our 2 winning rinks with Top Rink honours going to Anne Knight, Wendy Wilson, and skip Liz Baldwin.

The Jubilee Plate was the prize contested by the President's Team and the Captain's Team; it was great to see all six rinks in action The President’s team swept to victory with a convincing 114 - 83 scoreline. Harry Smith, Roy Mills and skip Albert Leatham led the way with a 24 - 8 result and claimed the top rink prize.

Jenny Ashman was the winner of the Spider Competition becoming the 4th lady in a row to win this coveted award. Time to step up, Gentlemen.
