Marine Gardens Bowling Club - Update (w/ending Saturday, 12th August 2023

(August 12, 2023)

The wait for a match victory continues. It was unlikely to occur at Petworth, so it proved to be. We were soundly defeated on all 3 rinks in the WSBL competition to what looks like being the league champions. Oh dear, no further visits to Petworth! The overall score was 95 - 26.

We fared marginally better on our away trip to Maltravers but still managed to lose on all 4 rinks in the Brodie Tray League. This time the overall score was a little more respectable 81 - 47.

Back on home turf we finally witnessed winners in Marine Gardens colours when David Sayer, Angela Neale, and Betty Stevenson registered a 14 - 9 victory in a friendly match against Shoreham. Unfortunately, we lost on the other 4 rinks with an overall score of
51 - 95.

On the domestic scene, the plaudits go to Brian Harrison, Phil Tester, and Peter Guy who had an impressive 30 - 11 victory in the Club Drive.

The clubs’ Triples League competition was finalised on a rather dismal Tuesday morning when the Kestrels swooped to victory ahead of the Condors and the Hawks. A close result 154 – 150 - 148. Congratulations to Norman Deegan, Alan Paterson, Linda Godsmark, Gerry Perch, David Barlow, Jane McHugh, and John Dorkings.

Finally, our congratulations to Pamela Chambers on receiving her Level 1 Coaching Certificate, well done Pamela.

Alan Paterson, Press Officer.
