Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 18th June 2023

(June 18, 2023)

Marine Gardens bounced back from their defeat at the hands of Petworth in the  WSBL by defeating near neighbours Goring Manor 3 -1 rinks (75 - 20) in the Brodie Tray league. Top rink honours went to Anne Knight, David Hughes, and Duncan Gayler with a commendable 25 - 8 scoreline.

This was followed by the Ladies’ team victory in the GSM league against East Preston, with very impressive wins in both rinks (56 – 17) and earned them the full 6 points. Pamela Chambers, Linda Gayle, Pauline Sayer, and Jenny Ashman took top rink honours. Well done ladies in your breakthrough victory.

Another visit to Goring Manor for the Stracey Shield league, saw the points divided 6 - 4 in Goring Manor’s favour.

Prior to that visit we had a most enjoyable Captain v Vice-Captain match. Once again, we were blessed with pleasant weather which brought out the best in the Captain's colours winning by 3 rinks to 2 (72 - 56). The all-male team of Roger Parrish, Albie Marsella, Ken Leadbeater, and  Brian Harrison fought hardest for their Captain Wendy Wilson, with a 25 - 6 victory. Another winner on the day was Paula Seymour showing great skill in winning the Spider. Great bowling weather but a little overnight rain would not go amiss.

Alan Paterson, Press Officer.
