Marine Gardens Bowling Club – report w/ending Sunday, 28th May 2023
(May 28, 2023)Pleased to report that Marine Gardens returned to winning ways although not before suffering defeat at Witterings in the West Sussex Bowls League.
We lost by 2 rinks to 1 (64-38 shots) , Witterings taking the points 6-2.
Our first taste of victory for some time was against Worthing Grasshoppers at Worthing Pavilion. This much enjoyed fixture went our way with a 3 rinks to 1 (75-68) score in our favour.
Top rink honours went to skip Ivan Godsmark, Duncan Gayler and Heather Marsella with an impressive 30-14 scoreline.
Further success continued at Lancing in the Stracey when we recorded a 3 rinks to 1 match victory (91-64 shots) Skip Jenny Ashman led Bob Cole, John Nettleingham and Tim Baldwin to top rink honours (27-10) and a very welcome 8-2 split of the points.
Betwixt these competitive matches a more leisurely evening Club Drive took place with Susan Lear, Gerry Perch and Brian Harrison leading the way with a 17- 4 win.
The sun shone on our Open Day attracting a goodly number of participants who hopefully will feel inspired to take up this wonderful game of bowls. Many thanks to all who provided help on the day.
