Marine Gardens Bowling Club – Report w/ending Saturday, 22nd April 2023.
(April 22, 2023)Our promising start to the season came to a shuddering halt when after only two games the greenkeeper recommended that we delay play for a further week to allow the green to recover from some initial damage.
This was particularly disappointing as the warmer weather had enabled our indoor specialists to reach a longer jack and for those returning from hibernation to welcome the sun on their backs. Que sera, sera!
As poor weather is likely to continue throughout the coming week our greenkeeper has advised that we use netted mats to protect the green from further damage.
The draw has been made for the popular Triples League Competition and battle will commence on Tuesday mornings from 2nd May onwards throughout the season. Good luck to all our participants.
Plans are afoot for a Coronation Celebration event on the afternoon of Sunday 7th. May, details are to be found in the clubhouse.
Meanwhile, we look forward to friendly games with Goring Manor, Steyning and Shoreham prior to a Men's v Ladies' match when, hopefully, normal play will have resumed.
